Meet the Artistic Director
Emily Rebecca Norman's first monologue "Sick," by Shel Silverstein, won her a spot in the Chameleon Drama Club at age seven. She has been involved with theatre ever since.
As an adult, Emily found her calling when she combined her love of theatre with her passion for teaching. To develop her skills as a Teaching Artist, Emily pursued her master's degree in Educational Theatre in Colleges and Communities from New York University. While at NYU, she completed a certification program at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, and studied Community-Engaged Theatre in Ireland. Emily returned to Boulder, the place she's called home for the previous nine years, to put her education to use in her own communities.
Emily worked as a Teaching Artist for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, as a director for KidStage, a theatre educator for Wolf Theatre Academy at MACC as well as a joker/facilitator for Mirror Image Arts, a bullying prevention program that is based in Theatre of the Oppressed. During the pandemic Emily and a group of 12 fellow teaching artists started a theatre company, Adventure Players Live!, based entirely on zoom. In its inaugural season APL produced over 40 shows.
